A well-maintained Kurkure making machine can run reliably for well over a decade. Most of the breakdown calls we get, though, trace back to a handful of habits being skipped on the shop floor rather than any fault in the machine itself. Here are the five that matter most.
1. Clean the barrel and die after every shift
Leftover dough residue hardens inside the barrel and die if left overnight, increasing friction and load on the motor the next time the machine starts. A five-minute clean-down at the end of each shift prevents most of the wear we see on screws and dies.
2. Check screw and die wear on a fixed schedule, not when output drops
By the time you notice product shape or texture changing, the screw or die has often already worn enough to affect throughput. Inspect these parts on a fixed weekly or monthly schedule depending on your run volume, and keep a spare set on hand so a worn part doesn't mean a full production day lost.
3. Keep an eye on moisture content going in
Inconsistent raw material moisture is one of the most common causes of uneven extrusion pressure, which in turn stresses gearboxes and drive components over time. Standardising your pre-mix moisture content protects the machine as much as it protects product quality.
4. Lubricate on schedule, not by feel
Gearboxes and bearings have a manufacturer-specified lubrication interval for a reason. Skipping it to save time is one of the fastest ways to shorten the working life of a machine that would otherwise run for years without a major repair.
5. Don't ignore unusual sounds or vibration
A change in motor sound or new vibration is almost always cheaper to fix the day it starts than the week after, when a small bearing issue has become a drive-shaft replacement. Train operators to flag anything unusual immediately rather than running through it.
